Washington DCWelcome to the wonderful world of Weedguy. This photo album contains pictures of me, Charles Henry Schoonover. I, Charles Henry Schoonover, also known as Weedguy, hope that you enjoy viewing them and learning more about my life. I lived in Washington DC for a year at the Center for Creative Non-Violence (CCNV). CCNV is a homeless shelter. Of all of the homeless shelters that I have been forced to stay in, CCNV is the best. It is the only homeless shelter that actually met a real housing need. Union StationHere is a photograph of Union Station. This is where I ate breakfast almost every single morning. CCNV is only 3 or 4 blocks away from Union Station. When I got up in the morning, I would roll myself over to Union Station and eat breakfast. There are a lot of shops in Union Station. There is even a cigar shop in Union Station. The family that runs the shop also own there own brand of cigar called, "Aida." I like their robustos. While I lived in Washington, they taught me all about quality smokes. Supreme CourtAfter I ate breakfast, I would normally wheel myself over to the Library of Congress to get on-line. To get to the Library of Congress, I had to wheel past the Supreme Court Building. Some mornings, when there were cases being heard, this was a busy place. I remember one morning when a group of American Indians were beating a drum to show their support for a case that was being heard. On another morning, there was a sea of wheelchairs. Often, it was more exciting to be in front of this building than out on the national mall. Capitol BuildingAfter I checked my e-mail and surfed the internet for a while at the Library of Congress, I would normally roll around Washington DC. Directly across the street from the Library of Congress is the United States Capitol Building. I toured this building several times. In fact, I went to Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson's Senate Office--they are open to the public--and got a pass to the Senate observation gallery and to the House of Representatives observation gallery. Nothing was going on in the House of Representatives. They were not in session. However, when I visited the Senate chamber, I got to see was Senator Byrd rambling on, endlessly, about nothing in particular. Capitol BuildingHere is a side view of the Capitol. This is the view that you might see if you ever watch C-Span. C-Span and Fox News both have offices on the corner where this picture was taken. In fact, I often saw reporters for Fox News doing reports from this spot. And they often saw me. The area around here is called, "The President's Trees." I used to wheel down here in the evening and smoke some weed and a cigar. I also had the Capitol Hill Police Department harass me at this spot. The Capitol Hill K-9 officers are sadistic nazis. Weedguy on the Capitol StepsThis is a photograph of me sitting on the steps of the Capitol Building, looking out over the national mall. Most of the federal buildings in the city can be seen from this spot. The Capitol Building is built on Capitol "Hill." I liked this hill, a lot. It was my morning routine, after surfing on the internet at the Library of Congress, to do a wheely all the way down this hill. Jefferson MemorialThis is the Jefferson Memorial. It was being renovated when I took this picture. It is a little known fact that the statue of Thomas Jefferson looks across the national mall, directly into the White House. I spent a lot of time over by this monument. I even got to spend time around this monument when the cherrie blossoms were in full bloom. The cherrie blossoms really do smell nice. Washington MonumentHey, look at that big penis. Just joking, it is only a falic symbol. This monument was also being renovated when I visited. This picture was taken just before it was closed off to the public. This is where I was when they had the 4th of July fire works. I watched the fireworks after spending all day at a marijuana legalization smoke out across the street from the White House. Needless to say, I enjoyed the show. Weedguy at the F.D.R. MemorialHere is a photograph of me at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial. I did not spend a lot of time here because this memorial is located along the Potomac river. I would usually follow the river when I was in this area. If you are in Washington DC, the best scenery in the city is by this memorial. Weedguy at the Lincoln MemorialHere I am with Honest Abe. Guess what? This memorial was being renovated, also. By now, all of the memorials in Washington should really be looking good. If you visit Washington DC, you will want to spend a lot of time by this memorial. During the year that I spent in Washington DC, I passed by this monument many times. I would pass it every time that I rolled myself across the Potomac, all the way to Arlington National Cemetery. My daily routine was to wheel myself to the very top--the cemetery is on a hill. It would take me one hour to wheel myself from the bottom of the hill to the very top. Doing a wheely, it took me less than 5 minutes to get back down to the bottom of the hill. The Vietnam Veterans MemorialThe Vietnam Veterans MemorialWeedguy at the Vietnam Veterans MemorialThis is a photograph of me sitting by one of the statues that is dedicated to the veterans of the Vietnam conflict. This memorial is located by the Lincoln Memorial and there are booths in the area where the vets get together and where they also sale Vietnam Era stuff. The White HouseI took this photograph of the White House by sticking the camera through the bars of the fence that runs around it. And when I got out of jail... Weedguy at the White HouseFinally, here I am in front of the White House. I did not get to see President Clinton during any of my visits to this area, but I did see him. On one occasion in particular, I was following my usual routine which took me by the Washington Monument--which is on the other side of the White House. When I got to the street that runs in front of the Washington Monument, Bill Clinton, riding in his motorcade, caused me to wait while the motorcade drove by, filming me with a movie camera. What the hell was that all about? Well, I am sure that I will find out what it was about, eventually. Right now, though, I hope that you have enjoyed sharing some of my memories of the year that I spent living in a homeless shelter in Washington DC.
